Main Entry: time bomb
Function: noun
1 : a bomb so made as to explode at a predetermined time
2 : something with a potentially dangerous or detrimental delayed reaction

a brief history (by matt):
After seeing the travesty that is Sacrilege - The Game, multiple people asked me if I could create a crappy ripoff of one game or another. I decided that minesweeper would be the easiest because nothing needs to move.

I am living out in the middle of the desert this summer and have nothing to do most of the time, so I wrote timebomb one weekend.

I let a few people (Dave, Sean, and Andrea) try it out and they gave me some useful suggestions, which led to the piece of crap that you see today.

instructions:
(by matt) Well this time I actually included instructions in the game. Just click the button.
(by dave) directions for how to play are included in the game, but a little summary is necessary so that people will be able to decide if they actually want to download this. as stated previously, this game is a ripoff of minesweeper. your goal is to uncover bombs by using hints you discover. what happens is, you try to uncover arrows that point out where the bombs are, and then you can safely disarm the bombs if you can guess or determine where they are. you'll definitely need to read the real instructions in the game before playing though.

hints (aka facts brutally obvious to everyone):
- (by matt) if arrows are pointing at a space from 2 opposite sides (up and down or left and right) then it must have a bomb
- (by matt) if an arrow is pointing at a space and the opposite side is the edge of the playing field, then it must be a bomb
- (by matt) arrows only point up, down, left, and right, they do not take into account diagonals
- (by dave) (copied from the Sacrilege page) if you get some kind of nonsense about vb6 run-time something, or msvbvm60.dll specifically, you need to install the visual basic 6.0 run-time dlls.

updates:
- well, this update was made over a month ago but i got extremely lazy and forgetful and worstfriendever-ish and never posted it. sorry, matt! anywho... in this update, there's a bunch of cool changes. there was a bug that prevented some people with custom window colors from being about to see the time or number of bombs remaining, and that has been fixed. also, the save high scores feature has been disabled by default, so be sure to enable that if you plan on caring about your scores and you're playing for the first time (it re-enables itself automatically if it finds a scores file already). and finally(?), there's a new cool message window thing that keeps track of in-game messages for you, and gets rid of the annoying pop-up message boxes. there might be other changes but when you forget to update your site for over a month you can't remember things like that. download:
TimeBomb.exe - 101,376 byte EXE file - [right click and save!]
(compressed with UPX!)
this is a standalone EXE file... no installation and no uninstallation is required. remove it by deleting (or closing if you didn't save it) the file. depending on whether or not you enabled the saving of high scores, you might need to delete the accompanying DAT file.
